It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Judy Harris Huntsinger, who passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in Asheville, North Carolina. Born on December 6, 1946, in Martinsville, Virginia, Judy lived a life dedicated to her family and her many passions. She was a loving homemaker, whose heart was always focused on creating a warm and welcoming environment for those she cherished.
Judy was known for her creativity, often expressing herself through drawing and sharing her artistic talents with her family. Her humor brought joy to many, making her a beloved presence in the lives of her loved ones. An animal lover, Judy's affection extended not only to her family but also to the many pets she cared for during her lifetime, including her cherished dog, Sassy.
She is survived by her children, Michael Shuffler and wife Misty, Dale Shuffler and wife Angie, and Tammy Candler and husband Shawn. Judy also leaves behind her step-children, Michelle Waid and Rev. Thomas Lee Huntsinger Jr., as well as her grandchildren: Shelby Shuffler, Chris Huntsinger, Nicholas Shuffler, Alexus Lunsford, Avery Shuffler, Makenzie Shuffler, and Priscilla Moore and husband Austin. She took great pride in her role as a grandmother and enjoyed many joyful moments with her great-grandchildren: Sapphire, Cooper, Macie, and Lilah.
Judy is also remembered by her siblings, Barbara Hudson and husband Bunk, Harley Ray Harris, Jr. and wife Priscilla, Ricky Harris and wife Kathy, Stevie Harris and wife Sheri, Buddy Harris and wife Ella, Tony Harris, and Joseph Harris, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harley Harris and Vear Booker Harris; her husband of 42 years, Tommy Lee Huntsinger, who passed away on June 10, 2016; and her siblings, Betty Spears and husband Bill, and Ann Coggins; along with sisters-in-law, Wanda Harris and Martha Mae Harris.
A visitation honoring Judy will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, in the Chapel of Anders Rice & Roper Funeral Home in Asheville, North Carolina, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, followed by a graveside service at New Salem Cemetery at 2:45 PM.
Judy Harris Huntsinger will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and the laughter she brought into their lives. Her legacy lives on through each person she touched and the memories they will carry forward.
