Landon Lewis

Landon G. Lewis passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 12, 2026, in Leicester, where he had lived since 1971. He was 89 years old.

Landon's life was defined by hard work, determination, and a profound love and commitment to his family. A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late Druidie Archie Lewis and Bonnie Worley Lewis, and brother to Hazel Profitt, Lester Lewis, David Lewis, and Theron Lewis, all of whom preceded him in death.

Landon served in the US Army in Germany and later worked at Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan. He then took a position at Shell's City in Miami, Florida, once the largest grocery store in the world, where he advanced from bagboy to general manager. After returning to North Carolina, he was a store manager for Ingles Markets until 1985.

Landon loved cattle and horses and had many over the years. His passion extended to all animals and farming, always keeping busy on the farm and enjoying raising a large garden.

He cherished his grandchildren and loved having them around. He is survived by his son, Rev. Mark Lewis and wife Connie. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Dianne Reeves. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Ben Reeves, who was especially close to Landon and was treated as his own son. Landon also leaves behind four loving grandchildren: Christine Jones and husband Jeremey, John Lewis and wife Katie, Morgan Reeves (Dalton), and Lesley Reeves (Brian), as well as five great-grandchildren: Lincoln Jones, Lizzie Jones, Liam Lewis, Bennett Jones, and Claire Lewis.

While we are saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing he has gone to his heavenly home to be with his wife and love of his life, Patricia Evans Lewis, and his beloved daughter, Lisa Dianne Reeves. This is not goodbye, but we will see you later.

Landon was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, attending regularly until his health no longer permitted.

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery, 2605 New Leicester Hwy, Leicester, NC 28748. Rev. Mark Lewis will officiate. His family will receive friends in the Chapel of Anders Rice & Roper Funeral Home on Thursday from 10 until 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Bethel Baptist Church, 125 Ben Lippen Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
