Latt G. Grooms

Asheville - Latt G. Grooms, 74, of 195 Smith Graveyard Road, died Saturday March 2, 2002 at Aston Park Health Care Center after and extended illness. A native of Madison County, he had resided in Buncombe County since 1945. He retired from Hobson Construction Co. and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was a son of the late William Walter and Bonnie Baldwin Grooms. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Tabor Grooms of the home; daughters, Linda Lyday and husband Ed of Columbia, S.C. and Donna Bergman of Greer, S.C.; son, Rex Alan Grooms and wife Darlene of Marshall; grandchildren, Kelly T. Grooms, Paul Lyday and Holly Bergman; sisters, Valerie Surrett of Candler and Christy Riddle of Chatham, Va.; brothers, Garrison Grooms and Harry Grooms both of Asheville and Lawrence Grooms of Johnson City, Tn. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Claude Surrett officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
