Laura T. Rice

Asheville - Laura Tarlton Rice, 100, formerly of 114 Deaver Street, died Tuesday - January 23, 2007 at the home of her daughter, Betty Baldwin. A native of Madison County, she was raised in Tennessee and resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Joseph and Matilda Norton Tarlton and the wife of the late Arthur Rice. She was also preceded in death by 1 brother, 3 sisters, 7 children and 2 grandchildren. Surviving are her son, Elmer Bud Rice of Los Angeles, CA.; daughters, Mildred Frady of Asheville and Betty Baldwin and husband Roger of Etowah; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. James Walker officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
