Lester William Morrow

Sgt. Lester William Morrow, 78, of Leicester, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

A native of Madison County, he was born on February 27, 1948, to the late Virgil Eugene Morrow and Katy Wilde Morrow.

Mr. Morrow proudly served his country in the United States Army for over 20 years before retiring from military service. He was a dedicated serviceman who took great pride in his years of service. Lester enjoyed running and, above all, loved his family. He will be remembered for his devotion to those he loved and the special place he held in the hearts of his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert Wayne Morrow and Eugene Cleveland Morrow; and sister, Glenna Faye Morrow.

Surviving are his twin sister, Alice King (Roger) of Asheville; sister-in-law, Gail Morrow; nieces, Sonya Robinson and Rhonda Inman (Dale); nephews: Albert Morrow, Michael Morrow, and Gene Morrow; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, a great-great-niece, and great-great-nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, in the chapel of Anders Rice & Roper Funeral Home.

A private family graveside service will be held later at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to Dr. Jason and the staff of Valor Hospice at the Charles George VA Medical Center for the outstanding love, compassion, and care shown to Lester during his final days.
