Lois Allen Greene

Candler - Lois Allen Greene, 85, of 177 Rhinehart Road died Friday January 2, 2004 at Memorial Mission Hospital after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where she had been active in the WMU and had formerly been a Sunday School Teacher. She had retired from American Enka Corp. where she had also played on their industrial league basketball team. She was a loving, giving lady who sought nothing for herself, but everything for others. She was a daughter of the late M.M. Allen and Lena Cordell Allen and the wife of the late Bryan W. Greene. She was also preceded in death by a son, Walter A. Greene. Surviving are her son, Neil W. Greene and wife Carrie of Candler; daughter-in-law, Ruth Greene of Candler; sister, Polly A. Bagwell of Carrboro; grandsons, Justin and MIcah Green both of Candler and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11:oo A.M. Monday at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Freeman officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4:00 P. M. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
