Mamie Barker Williams

Asheville - Mamie Elizabeth Barker Williams, 92, of 249 Smith Rd. died Sunday, February, 29, 2004. A native of Swain County She had resided in Buncombe County since 1929. Mrs. Williams was a retired cosmetologist with the former Cosmetolitan Beauty Salon and a member of Aaron Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Andrew Elias and Laurena Melvina Carson Barker. Mrs. Williams was also preceded in death by her husband Murley Williams who died in October of 1988; daughters, Jeanette Bradley Howie-Hensley and Fannie Inez Hill; great grandson, Johnny Warren and nine brothers and sisters. Surviving are her brother, Cecil J. Barker and wife, Hazel of Asheville; seven grandchildren including, Letha Howie of the home and ten great grandchildren. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Monday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Stephenson officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
