Mary Anders Lawing

Mary Anders Lawing, 92, of 69 Howard Street, Asheville, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Marjorie McCune Center. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County she was a daughter of the late Curtis RC and Maggie Green Anders. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Enoch Aaron Lawing; sisters: Mae Holler and Pansy Suttles; and brother, Ernest Anders. Mrs. Lawing worked in banking from 1948 until retiring in 1991 from the Bank of Asheville which is now Bank of America. She also did volunteer work with Allied Wheel and Alignment and was a longtime member of Westwood Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, Bruce Lawing and wife Nancy of Leicester; grandson, Jason Lawing and wife Wendy of Leicester; great-grandsons: Jayden and Brancyn; sisters: Pearl Vaughn of Charlotte, and Ruby Taylor of Murfreesboro, TN; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 20, 2018 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Carson Moseley officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 till 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
