Mary D. Hensley

Asheville - Mary Melissa Doan Hensley, 70, of 106 Shelburne Rd. died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at Pisgah Manor Health Care following a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She was a daughter of the late William Taylor and Iva Joel Rice Doan and was also preceded in death by her son, Jack Hensley; sisters, Joyce Clements and Betty Green and brother, Freddie Doan. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, William Bill Wesley Hensley of the home; daughters, Rebecca Hensley Stawiski of San Diego, California and Melissa Israel of Raleigh; sons, David W. Hensley, Billy Hensley and Gary Hensley all of Asheville; sister, Nancy Reed of Asheville and brother, Steve Doan of Asheville; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. James Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
