Mary Hamlin Thomas

Mary Hamlin Thomas, 85, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County she was a daughter of the late Jacob Floyd Hamlin and Hattie Lillie West Hamlin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Norman Thomas; sons: Charles Steven Thomas and Forrest Bucky Dale Thomas; and 5 brothers and sisters. Mrs. Thomas retired from Mission Hospital after 25 years of service and attended Trinity Baptist Church. Surviving are her children: Jerry Dean Thomas and wife Anne of Richmond, VA, Terry Wayne Thomas of Asheville, and Robin Denise Hamlin and husband James of Richmond, VA; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, December 30, 2017, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 till 8 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
