Maxine Mathis Owens

Leicester – Maxine Mathis Owens, 68, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the Solace Center.

A native of Madison County, she had lived in Buncombe County since 1972. She knew she was saved and trusted in the Lord. She had a strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and wanted others to realize that they too could know that they are saved.

She was a daughter of the late Roy and Ruby Hudgins Mathis and was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles.

Surviving are her husband of 50 years, James Cecil Owens; son, Jason Owens and wife Meghan; grandson, Jase Owens; sisters, Betty Jean Williams and husband Waynie and Margaret Shetley and husband David; brother, Donald Mathis and wife, Marie and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Friday, May 19, 2023, at Riverside Baptist Church, with Pastor Jason S. Owens officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2 till 3 PM prior to services at the church.

Burial will be private.
