Michael Dennis Fairchilds

Michael Dennis Fairchilds, 70, of Asheville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Michael was a son of the late Roy and Betty Fairchilds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Fairchilds.

Michael worked for Speedy’s Auto Parts in Asheville and was well known for his knowledge of automobiles. He had a great love for cars and could talk with just about anyone about them.

He was also a talented drummer and had a lifelong love of music. Michael will be remembered for his kind heart and welcoming spirit. He had a way of making everyone around him feel comfortable, loved, and accepted, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his girlfriend and devoted caretaker, Lib Teague of Alexander, along with many, many dear friends whose lives were touched by Michael’s friendship, kindness, and welcoming spirit.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
