Michael "Mike" Daniel Dockery, Sr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the age of 60. Born in Asheville on April 30, 1965, Michael spent his life deeply connected to the natural world, fondly remembering the countless hours he enjoyed fishing, camping, and being immersed in the great outdoors.
Known for his gentle spirit and enduring love for nature, Michael’s presence brought calm and joy to those around him. His dedication to family and passion for outdoor adventures defined much of his life's journey, leaving an indelible mark on his loved ones.
Mike is survived by his children, Michael Daniel Dockery, Jr., and Sonya Marie Dockery. He was a proud grandfather to Steven Meadows and Makayla Warren. Michael was also blessed with siblings who stood by him through life's seasons: sisters: Donna Warren and husband Jeff, Patsy Smith, and Trina Smith along with her husband Luke; brothers, Roger Dockery and Joel Dockery, Jr., and wife Alice; and brothers-in-law, Roger Warren and Tommy Meadows. His extended family includes many nieces and nephews, all of whom remember him with affection.
Mike was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie Campbell Dockery, whose memory he cherished deeply. He was also preceded by his parents, Joel Clifford Dockery and Dortha Stewart Docker; his sisters, Betty Meadows and Brenda Warren; and brother-in-law, Glenn Roy Smith.
Family, friends, and all who knew Michael are invited to honor his life and legacy at the visitation scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m., both to be held in the Chapel of Anders Rice & Roper Funeral Home located at 1428 Patton Avenue, Asheville, NC 28806. Rev. Ricky Neatherton will officiate and burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
In reflecting on Mike's life, we find comfort in the beauty of nature he so loved, and in the bonds of family and friendship that he nurtured with unwavering devotion. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered, an enduring presence in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
