Mildred Player

Asheville Mildred Ridings Player, 85, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. A native of Spartanburg, SC, she had resided most of her life in Buncombe County. She retired from Highland Hospital following 20 years of service as a secretary. Mrs. Player was a daughter of the late Clarence and Helen Rose Ridings. Surviving are her husband, Howard Glenn Bud Player, whom she married December 24, 1951, of the home; children, Pamala E. Player and Kathryn Renee Player both of Greenville, SC; Buddy Player and wife Dianne of Asheville; sisters, Shirley Hinkle of Ormond Beach, FL and Carlene Nichols of Columbia, SC and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with Rev. Coy Jeans officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ones favorite charity.
