Nellie Allen Hensley

Asheville Nellie Allen Hensley, 94, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Burnsville, she resided in Buncombe County for more than 75 years. She was a daughter of the late Cleasure and Flora Bell Powell Allen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Backus Hensley who died in 1971; daughter, Ann Allen Clark who died in 2016; and 8 siblings. Mrs. Hensley was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Black Mountain, and retired from Three Mountaineers Mfg. in 1988. Surviving are her sons: James Alvin Hensley and his wife Joyce of Black Mountain, and Larry William Hensley and his wife Wanda of Fletcher; daughter, Mary Jane Dayton of Asheville; son-in-law, Alfred Clark of Church Hill, TN; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Monday, May 29, 2017 at the Faith Independent Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Jerry Hensley officiating.
