Norma Ann Maynard, born on July 13, 1960, in Asheville, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, in her beloved hometown. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose compassionate spirit touched the lives of many.
For over 20 years, Norma dedicated her career to Beacon Manufacturing, followed by a decade of service at Asheville Health Care Center. It was there that she truly exemplified a caring, loving, and giving demeanor, providing comfort and support to her patients. Her commitment to her work was reflective of her nurturing personality, as she consistently put the needs of others before her own.
Family was at the heart of Norma's life. She cherished her children and grandchildren, always prioritizing their well-being and happiness. Norma was a constant source of support, often going out of her way to help those she loved, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to her family.
Norma is preceded in death by her fiancé, Richard Foster; her parents, Derion Lee "D.L." Maynard and Winnie Lou Wilson Maynard; her son, Richard Foster; her sister, Mary Francis Maynard; her brother, Dennis Lee Maynard; and her brothers-in-law, Bill Gosnell and Larry Wallen.
Norma leaves behind her children: Kirk Gardner (Candice Rice), Kevin Gardner (Myranda Sawyer), Michelle Morris (Chris), Anthony Gardner (Jennifer Metcalf), and Elizabeth Foster, and nine grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Regina Gosnell, Carol Maynard, and Sandra Gardner (Jackie), as well as her brother, Darryl Maynard (Pam). In addition, she has several nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss her dearly.
In memory of Norma, visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM, followed by a funeral service that will take place at 2:00 PM, all at Anders Rice & Roper Funeral Home, located at 1428 Patton Avenue, Asheville, NC. Burial will follow at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who knew her.
