Peter N. Sagonias

Peter N. Sagonias, a devoted husband and a respected pharmacist, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, in Arden, North Carolina, at the age of 85. Born on August 13, 1940, in Tarpon Springs, Florida, Peter dedicated over 50 years of his life to serving the community as a pharmacist, a profession that he approached with dedication and compassion.

Throughout his career, Peter was known not only for his expertise but also for the genuine care he extended to those he served. He graduated from the University of Florida, earning a degree in Pharmacy, and later achieved a degree in Nuclear Pharmacy, marking his commitment to continuous learning and excellence in his field. His professional drive was accompanied by a sense of duty that stemmed from his military service; he served honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War, an experience that shaped his character and deepened his resolve to contribute positively to society.

Peter was a dedicated member of Fletcher First Baptist Church, where his faith was a guiding force in his life. He actively served on the Safety and Security Team, ensuring the safety and comfort of his fellow congregants. Peter cherished the fellowship found within his Sunday School Class, known as Word and Faith, where he built lasting connections and shared in the spiritual growth of the community.

A private man at heart, Peter enjoyed the quieter moments in life, yet his presence always resonated with warmth and kindness. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Louise Buckner Sagonias, and his step-daughter, Lisa Buckner and her fiancé Shane. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick Peter Sagonias and Mary Emily Gabala Sagonias, as well as his step-son, Larry Buckner.

The impact Peter had on those around him will be remembered fondly. His commitment to his family, his profession, and his faith reflects a life well-lived, and his memory will forever be cherished by his loved ones.

Visitation for Peter will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Fletcher First Baptist Church located at 5 Cane Creek Road, Fletcher, NC 28732, followed by a funeral service at the same location at 2:00 PM with Pastor Roy Waldroup officiating. Burial will follow at Roberts Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be his friends and members of the Safety and Security Team at Fletcher First Baptist Church.
