Raleigh Odell Crawford

Asheville Raleigh Odell Crawford, 79, formerly of 127 Shelburne Road, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Emerald Ridge Health and Rehab Center. A native of Spartanburg, SC, he had resided in Buncombe County for most of his life. Raleigh worked at the West Asheville Branch Public Library for several years following retirement from the textile manufacturing industry. He was of the Baptist faith. Raleigh was the son of the late Walter and Ida Davis Crawford. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Horace and Ralph Crawford. Surviving are his sister, Ruth Bordelon and husband Eldan of Cedartown, GA; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Thursday at Upper Laurel Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Harold Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
