Asheville – Richard Lee Roberts, 79, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 30, 2024.


A native of Madison County, he had resided in Buncombe County most of his life. He was a great tool and die maker and many of the tools he crafted are still being used today. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and was a US Navy Veteran.


Mr. Roberts was a son of the late Johnny V. Roberts and Susie Roberts. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Ray, James, Lloyd, Coy, Branson, Leonard, and Howard Roberts; and sisters Leola Navy and Ellen Roberts.


Surviving is his wife, Jeanette Roberts; son, Jeryl Roberts (Tonya); daughter, Bethnia Roberts-Whitener (Robert); sisters, Opal Rice and Margaret Riddle; grandchildren, Tifani Roberts (Chris), Trenton Roberts (Kimberly), and Blaine Roberts; great-grandchildren, Aubree Roberts, Jaquelyn Roberts, and Meredith Roberts, along with several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Riverside Baptist Church with Reverend John Honeycutt officiating.


Pallbearers will be Trenton Roberts, Blaine Roberts, Wayne Williams, and Robert Whitener.


The family will receive friends from 1 PM to 2 PM Monday prior to services at Riverside Baptist Church.


Anders-Rice Funeral Home and Cremation Center is honored to serve the Roberts family.
