Richard Leon Sherlin Sr.

Asheville Richard Leon Sherlin, Sr., 66, of 8 Thomas Lee Drive died Saturday August 13, 2005 at the Samaritan Place Assisted Living Center after an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County he retired in 1997 from Harrins Trim Shop after more than 30 years of service. He was a son of the late Thad Oscar and Bessie Owensby Sherlin and was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Leon Ricky Sherlin, Jr. Surviving are his wife, Rachel Lynn Lanning Sherlin of the home; daughter, Rayanna Arthur and husband Michael W. of Weaverville; brothers, James Sherlin of Weaverville and Ronald Sherlin of Swannanoa and 3 grandchildren, Tara Lingerfeldt, Sarah Arthur and Audrey Arthur. A memorial graveside service will be held at 3 PM Tuesday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Russell officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Rayanna and Michael Arthur, 3 Penny Lane, Weaverville.
