Ruth Marie Allen

Asheville - Ruth Marie Freshour Allen, 83, formerly of 14-C Woodridge Apts. died Thursday, August 22, 2002 at Park Ridge Hospital. A native of Newport, Tennessee. Mrs. Allen resided in Spartanburg, S.C. where she attended High School and moved to Asheville in 1938. She was a retired nurse having trained at Metropolitan Bible School in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Spartanburg General Hospital and Memorial Mission Hospital. She was the daughter of the late, Issac Frank Freshour and Elizabeth Victoria Allen Freshour Grizzle and was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra E. Gaddy who died January 21, 2002. Surviving are her sons, William Franklin Bill Capps and Lewis Edward Eddie Capps both of Candler; brother, Rev. Henry Freshour of Greenville, S.C.; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Gassaway officiating. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
