Sandra Wood Shular

Candler – Sandra Wood Shular, 77, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center following a long bout with Parkinson’s Disease. A native of Jackson County she resided in Buncombe County since 1979. She was a daughter of Mildred Boley Wood of Tuckasegee and the late Wallace Wood. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Glenn Darrell Wood. Mrs. Shular was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and was a very good cook. She enjoyed making meals for her family and church during gatherings especially thanksgiving dinner that she served on a 4x8 sheet of plywood and a set of sawhorses. She enjoyed providing a birthday dinner for Popie and making meals for Nana and Popie. Mrs. Shular retired form Memorial Mission Hospital as an Insurance Supervisor following 25 years of service and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church since 1968. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 58 years, Clifford “Cliff” Shular; mother, Mildred Wood; daughter, Aundria Pressley and husband Larry of Morganton; grandchildren: Phillip Pressley and wife Shellie, and Melissa Pressley; brother, William “Bill” Wood and wife Diane of Tuckasegee; sister-in-law, Katie Wood; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 6 pm Tuesday, June 21, 2022, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr. and Pastor Allen Rash officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Fairview Memorial Gardens, 104 Fairview Rd, Sylva, NC 28779. The family will receive friends from 5 till 6 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
