Sharon Blankenship

Asheville Sharon Kay Wheeler Blankenship, 60, of 1198 Jenkins Valley Road passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Hinton, West Virginia. Mrs. Blankenship had resided in Buncombe County most of her life, was employed with Brock Group and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Ralph Olen Wheeler and Elsie Virginia Sweetwood Wheeler. Surviving are her husband, George Boone Blankenship of the home; sons, Wade Hampton Burry of Mars Hill and George Randall Blankenship of Leicester; step daughter, Teresa Fain and husband Kenny of Candler; sister, Elsie Jean Hayes of Grottoes, VA; brothers, James Wheeler of Salem, VA and Harry Lee Wheeler of Witchita, KS; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
