Sharon Ruth Grama

March 17, 1958 — February 4, 2026

Sharon Ruth Grama, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in Asheville, North Carolina, at the age of 67. Born on March 17, 1958, in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, Sharon lived a life filled with love, devotion, and a deep appreciation for nature.

Sharon pursued her passion for caring for others by earning her Associates Degree in Nursing and becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Throughout her career, she demonstrated her nurturing spirit, dedicating herself to those she cared for. Her professional achievements, however, were only a part of the life she cherished daily.

A homemaker at heart, Sharon embraced the joys of family and the beauty of the natural world. She found immense happiness in her log cabin home atop a mountain in Spruce Pine, where she relished spending time surrounded by the splendor of the Western North Carolina mountains. Her love for her animals was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent outdoors, particularly when the snow blanketed the earth, and during spectacular displays of the northern lights. She dreamed of returning to Alaska, a place that left an indelible mark on her heart.

Sharon is survived by her loving children: Shawn Allen and wife Shydale, Nick McCoy, April Murray, and Jeremy McCoy and wife Melody and then stepdaughter Natania Grama. She was a grandmother to Taylor Allen, Blake Allen, Aiden Mitchell, Tyler Mitchell, Justice Mitchell, Cheyanne Brown, Audrey Mitchell, and Carter Mitchell, as well as a great-grandmother to two great-grandchildren. Her family also includes her dear brothers, Paul Allen and wife Terry, and David Allen and wife Shelley; as well as her sister, Debbie Allen. She will be fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, and extended family members who shared in her warmth and kindness.

Sharon was preceded in death by her mother Evelyn Nanny; her husband, Joey Grama; and her sister, Cindy Grey. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Mitchell County Animal Rescue, PO Box 308, Spruce Pine, NC 28777 or online at mitchellcountyanimalrescue.org

Her life was one of connection to both her family and the world around her. Sharon's spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of her family and friends, reminding them of the love she so generously shared. As the mountains stretch high and the animals roam free, the essence of Sharon Ruth Grama remains woven into the fabric of the natural beauty she cherished so deeply.
