Shawn Fitchett

Shawn Fitchett, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, on his 54th birthday. Born on January 24, 1972, in Asheville, Shawn spent his formative years in a close-knit community, ultimately graduating from Tuscola High School. He further pursued his education at AB Technical Community College, where he earned a degree that laid the groundwork for his future endeavors.

Shawn was known for his private demeanor, yet his impact on those around him was anything but discreet. He was a devoted family man, leaving behind his beloved wife of ten years, Crystal McCurry Fitchett, and their son, Chase Fitchett, along with Chase’s wife, Cami. Shawn was also proud to be a grandfather to his granddaughter, Daisy Fitchett. He is survived by his father, Butch Nantz, and by Pop Davis, who served as his House Dad and lifelong mentor, offering guidance and support throughout his life. Shawn was also surrounded by many extended family members and friends who will remember him fondly.

One of Shawn's proudest accomplishments was his advocacy for the Broyhill Children's Home, a cause close to his heart. He often took to the podium at various gatherings, speaking passionately to bring encouragement to the children there. Even after they aged out of the program, Shawn dedicated himself to mentoring these young individuals, offering a supportive presence that made a lasting difference in their lives.

A service to celebrate Shawn's life will be announced.

As we remember Shawn Fitchett, we celebrate a man whose kindness and commitment to his family and community left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His legacy of compassion and mentorship will continue to inspire those who had the honor of sharing his journey.
