Spurgeon "J.R." Junior Callahan, Iii

Asheville – Spurgeon “J.R.” Junior Callahan, III, 62, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 22, 2020 at the Elizabeth House. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Walter Rice and Dell Rice. He was also preceded in death by a sister. J.R. was currently employed with Krispy Kreme on Patton Avenue for the past 14 years. Previously he worked for Drexel Heritage for 21 years. He was a loving husband and provider who enjoyed working. He will be remembered for his charm and smile. Surviving are his wife of 11 years, Nancy Callahan; children: Tabitha Callahan and Matthew Callahan; a grandson, Logan Callahan; mother-in-law, Mary Weber; a brother, and many cousins and extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 6, 2020, in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Andy McDevitt officiating.
