Tom Miller

Candler - William Thomas "Tom" Miller, 70, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Daniel Delbert Miller and Jo Alice Harwood Miller. Mr. Miller, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and of the Baptist faith, was an auto mechanic and master of all trades. His passions included travel, history and aviation. He was a loving Husband, Father and Grandfather, and will be remembered by all as a private man for whom his family was his life. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Judith Rice Miller of the home; daughters, Mary Burgess of Candler, Kay Murray (Ray) of Leicester, Betty Prater (Ronnie) of Arden; son, Tommy Miller (Teresa) of Swannanoa; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Cornelius and Sam of Asheville and James of Leicester; sister, Bertha Adams of Asheville; mother-in-law, Mary Dowdle of Asheville; dear friends, Arthur Hunnicutt (Martha) of Asheville, Imogene Metcalf of Woodfin and David Reeves of Candler. Private services were held Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
