Vernon Jennings Pace

Vernon Jennings Pace, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospital following an extended illness. A native and life long resident of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late James Glenn and Elsie Hoots Pace. He was also preceded in death by a sister and four brothers. Surviving are his wife, Louise Swanger Pace of the home; step-children: Rhoda Gregory (Melvin), Regina Robinson (BR), Terry Ramsey (Mary Alice), and Dusty Ramsey, all of Asheville, and Anne Roberts (Larry) of Deltona, FL; 6 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Gospel Baptist Church, 74 Oak Hill Drive, Asheville, of which he was a member. Rev. Keith Shelton and Rev. Homer Edwards will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:30 10:30 AM Tuesday at the church.
