Virginia L. Fisher

Virginia L. Fisher, 87, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the Laurels of Summit Ridge. A native of Cosby, TN she was a long-time resident of Buncombe County. She was a daughter of the late Bruce R. Layman and Lola M. Layman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl H. Fisher; son, Charles Fisher, and brother, Furman Layman. Mrs. Fisher was a charter member of Long Shoals Baptist Church. Surviving are her children: Judy Johnston (Bobby) of West Asheville, Bruce (Laura) of Weaverville, Carla McLendon (Charles) of Asheville, Henry Fisher (Linda) of Swannanoa, Patricia Fisher of Swannanoa, and Angela Wilson of Arden; daughter-in-law, Jane Fisher of Boulder, CO; sister, Beulah Taylor of Arden; 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, April 7, 2018, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Coy Jeans officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 till 8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
