Warren Mcdevitt

Asheville - Warren Garland McDevitt, 86, died Monday March 12, 2012 at the Charles George VA Medical Center. Mr. McDevitt was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. He had served on the U.S.S. Missouri and was present at and witnessed the formal surrender of the Japanese Forces to the Allied Powers. He was a son of the late Reagan and Katherine Thomas McDevitt and the husband of the late Nadyne McDevitt. He was also preceded in death by a step-son, Eddie Worley. Surviving are his sisters, Evelyn Nix and Reba Rector and step-children, Rebecca W. Fisher (Martin), Michael Gary Worley (Janet) and Walter Worley (Darlene). A memorial service will be held 3:00 P.M. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Martin Fisher officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before services at the funeral home.
