Wayne Elmer Griffin

Wayne Elmer Griffin, 85, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital. A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Griffin was a son of the late Lawson Griffin and Edith M. Herron Ruffing. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pat “Nana” Griffin who passed away on May 16, 2022; and a daughter, Branda Griffin. Mr. Griffin was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean War. He was also a long-time Mason and Shriner with the Oasis Shriners. Surviving are his children: Ronnie Griffin, Connie Griffin, and Gary Griffin; step-children: Jack Drake and wife Julie, Denise Drake, and Heather Drake and wife Diane; grandchildren: Fair Griffin, Cameron Willis, Makenzie Willis, Jacquelyn Willis, Emma Drake, Olivia Brock, and Skyler Norby; brother, Vernon Griffin; and many extended family and friends. A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144, with military honors provided by the North Carolina National Guard Honor Guard.
