Wayne M. Hicks

ASHEVILLE Wayne McNeil Hicks, 83, of 5 Douglas Place passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Waynesville, he resided in Buncombe County. He was employed with Bi-Los for 14 years and formerly employed for many years with A&P Tea Company and was a member of Harvest Time Assembly of God. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Mr. Hicks was a son of the late John Hicks and Belle Palmer Hicks. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Gentry Hicks of the home; son, Sam Hicks of Arden; daughters, Diane Riddle and husband Mike of Candler and Sharon Lee and husband Roy of Asheville; sister, Edna Fox of Kannapolis; brother, Luther Hicks of Anderson, SC; three grandchildren and two great granddaughters. Funeral service will be held 2 P.M. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Rev. Darrell McClaren officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Saturday prior to the services at the funeral home.
