Winnie Maynard

Asheville Winnie Lou Wilson Maynard, 85, of 225 Upper Grassy Branch Road passed away Monday December 5, 2011 at her residence. A native of Yancey County. She had resided in Buncombe County most of her life, was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Maynard was a daughter of the late Huey Wilson and Bertha Murphy Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her children, Mary Francis Maynard and Dennis Lee Maynard; sisters, Tassie Edmonds, Willie Matthews and brother, Reedie Wilson. Surviving are her husband whom she married February 23, 1952, Rev. Derion Lee D.L. Maynard of the home; children, Regina Gosnell (Bill), Carol Maynard (Larry Wallen), Norma Foster (Richard), Sandra Gardner (Jackie) and Darrell Maynard (Pam); 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Jones, Ruth Sprouse, Georgia Dobbins, Jean Webb; brothers, Herman Wilson and Raymond Wilson and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Kilby officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
